Make The Most of 2016 – 20 Things Everyone Needs To Do This Year by Kerry Silverman

1. Take a road trip.

Grab your besties, pick a destination and go! It’s a great bonding idea, and it’s an awesome price alternative to an airplane ticket.
2. Ditch social media for 24 hours.

I can promise that your twitter feed will be there when you get back. But try going somewhere without going just for the purpose of posting pictures of your adventure.
3.  Try the food you’ve always hated.

Swallow your pride, literally.  If you’re anything like me you’ve grown up with the Finding Nemo quote that “fish are friends not food”. I lived by that motto also until I tried Sushi and then everything changed.
4.  Devote AT LEAST one day to doing all the things your parents did when they were your age.

Maybe it’s going to the roller rink or something corny, but reliving the glory days will definitely put a smile on their faces.
5.  Grab some old friends and devote a day to doing things you did when you were 10.

Get some old sheets and make a blanket fort, and don’t forget that the floor is hot lava! Having an old fashioned slumber party is the best way to catch up with your gal pals.
6. Do one thing everyday that scares you.

Eleanor Roosevelt said it best. If you never step out of your comfort zone, you’ll never knows what you are truly capable of.
7.  Conduct a random act of kindness to a complete stranger.

Whether it’s holding the door or complimenting an outfit, it’ll be sure to put a smile on their face. And wouldn’t you want someone to do the same for you?
8. Write an email that will be sent to you in 1 year.

dear me
Maybe your life is great or maybe you’re currently at rock bottom, but in a year from now everything can change. Remind yourself how amazing your life is, or give yourself pointers on how to change for the better.
9. Spend a day making old family recipes.

We all have that one dish that goes back generations, but how would it feel to be the one bringing it to the next family gathering? And who knows, maybe you can even create a new one.
10. Save up some cash and treat yourself to a fancy dinner.

Who cares if you don’t have that special someone to go with?  Either go by yourself or grab some friends and wine and dine at that new steak house you’ve been dying to try.

11.  Whether it’s knitting or playing guitar learn the thing you’ve always wanted to learn.

Stop finding excuses and find your passion. With technology nowadays you can basically teach yourself anything with youtube.
12. Get a completely different hair style.

You’ll never know if you can rock bangs if you never try. Most people I know including myself, have had the same hairstyle forever.  Make a change!
13. Get on the Dean’s List.

Sure college is supposed to be the best time of your life, but try and get the most out of it education wise, I mean that’s why you’re there in the first place. Nothing is more fulfilling than all those countless hours in the library finally paying off
14. Chose a room in your house and revamp it.

Maybe it’s your childhood bedroom that still has High School Musical posters on your wall or even just a bathroom. Make yourself free one weekend and get to work! It’s crazy how far a bucket of paint can go.
15. Start a daily journal.

It can either be something like a diary or even a dream journal. It doesn’t have to be written in every single day, but just enough so that when you reread it in the future, it’s something to reflect on.
16.  Wake up early, drive to the beach, and watch the sunrise.

Watching the sunset is easy, since we’re usually always up, but seeing the sunrise is commitment. Watching the Earth wake up is quite a breathtaking sight. Once you see the painted sky you won’t regret waking up at 5 a.m.
17.  Train for a 5k or even a marathon.

Maybe you’re a runner, maybe you’re not, but who cares! Push yourself to the next step. The weeks of training are all worth it once you cross that finish line.

18. Fall in love with yourself.

In a relationship or not, you need to learn to appreciate you. All you single ladies need to stop worrying about when you’ll find Mr. Perfect. Until he comes along, take this time to learn more about you.
19. Make time for girls night.

As we grow older, jobs, money, and relationships get placed highly, but we can never forget our friends. Make it a priority to hang out with them. Set aside dates far in advance so nothing else gets in the way.
20. Forget the past.

It’s a new year which means new memories to make. 2015 may have been great for some, but if not the only thing you can do is move on. Make this year the best one ever, so that this time a year from now, you won’t have any regrets!
