Who are you? & can you tell us a little about yourself?

My name is Jessica, a Cuban, raised in Girona living in Munich. Mom of “almost” 2, wife, coffee lover, traveler and enthusiastic entrepreneur, fair fashion lover and on the journey to slow and mindful living.

What exactly is Tamarindo Apparel?

Tamarindo is an ethical and fair fashion brand, worry about sustainability and conscious clothing, trying to make a difference. Showcasing Mexican, Peruvian, Colombian and Indian artisans and their handmade creations. Every Tamarindo’s item is thoughtfully handcrafted by indigenous communities, using high-quality sustainable materials.

What inspired you to start Tamarindo Apparel?

Many things from many lands. Ethical travel, textile sourcing and exploring the local handmade culture. The slow fashion and slow living, my journey to be a more ethical, sustainable and thoughtful consumer.

How did you come up with the name?

Tamarindo is an exotic fruit, sweet but with a bitter point, that I love and it’s really difficult to find everywhere, here its uniqueness.

Your products are 100% handmade, can you tell us about that?

All our products are handcrafted one-off pieces. Ethically sourced and promoting social sustainability. They have an important social context behind, a real history, that makes them unique and differents. No one is alike.

Is there a favorite product?

The Wayuu bags handmade by Colombian artisans.

What is your favorite part about running Tamarindo Apparel?

Building a little brand is full of stories, I really enjoy taking pictures, creating by little the basis of our brand reflects our dedication to preserving the ethnic culture and creating opportunities through the promotion of this traditional art form.

What is your least favorite part about running Tamarindo Apparel?

Being an entrepreneur has its ups and downs. While the downs can be pretty low the ups always seem to triumph for a true entrepreneur at heart. No matter which part you love most, loving them all is equally as important.

Stay Fit and Healthy

How do you spread the word about your company?

The uniqueness and timeless of the pieces guarantee a one of a kind experience, where having a pattern of Tamarindo is the certainty of having a unique piece in your home.
I am working in connecting the world directly with artisans through ethical fashion, textile sourcing and honest production.

Do you have any advice for fellow entrepreneurs?

Learn every day. Entrepreneurship is about solving problems and learning on the go. It’s exciting to learn new things, ask for help, that’s part of the gift of entrepreneurship.

Do you have a favorite quote or go to saying? ☺

For me is all about the challenges that we face every day and they are always changing. This gives you the opportunity to grow exponentially as a person through the challenges, and this, in turn, helps me to bring more value to Tamarindo.
