What exactly is ANGELIC NYC?

ANGELIC NYC is an ultra-soft apparel line adorned with angel wings and meant to bring out the best in all of us. A portion of the profits go towards various charities, and we sell a wide variety of different tanks, tees, totes, crewnecks, hoodies, bracelets, and more! In school we have learned so much, but sadly not about the importance of loving and believing in ourselves, and ANGELIC NYC aims to change that.

What inspired you to found ANGELIC NYC?

I had the simple idea of creating a women’s clothing line that was beautiful, comfortable and sophisticated all at once. Everything would be adorned with angel wings. I have always loved anything sparkly, especially angel wings, and the idea of being angelic. Someone who is kind, radiates warmth and affection, and wants to make the world a better place.

When did you know you wanted to work in the fashion industry?

Truthfully I don’t want to work in the fashion industry.  I just want to help people, and having ANGELIC NYC is a way for me to help people. I think of ANGELIC NYC as more of  an angelic movement than a fashion brand.

What exactly do you do on a day-to-day basis?

Every day I send a lot of emails, make a lot of phone calls to different people, text customers when new clothing comes in, go to the post office, and, sometimes, I have photo shoots and go to the Garment District in NYC because that is where all of the clothing is made.

What is the best part about running a company while in college?

I really like helping people and giving back and by running ANGELIC NYC, I feel like I am making a difference and have a purpose. I really love the creative parts of running a company and talking to my customers and hearing what they have to say. Also, I love going to different events, meeting people, and seeing people wear my clothing on the street and even at Governors Ball.

WOW your clients wore ANGELIC NYC at Governors Ball! How did you get that to happen?

People just wore ANGELIC NYC to Governors Ball, I didn’t do anything. I have the best customers / friends in the world so I’m just happy whenever they wear my stuff! I love how people wearing ANGELIC NYC might not know each other but they know me so it connects all of us 🙂

What is the most difficult part of running a company while in college?

I am not really a business person. It is difficult for me to do the real business stuff and I wish I didn’t have to deal with the business parts, because I just want to help people, and I wish I could give out all of my clothing for free.

You keep talking about you love helping people, so where did you develop your passion for helping others?

I l think it’s my purpose to spread love, help people, and make the world a better place so I’m just doing what I can. Nothing happened to me that made me want to help I others, I just feel like everyone was born to do something and that I was born to help others!

How does ANGELIC NYC help people?

ANGELIC NYC makes girls believe in themselves and their abilities. It gives back to charities such as Susan B Komen Foundation and American Foundation For Suicide Prevention, and it empowers all of us to use that angelic energy of being your best self to help the world around you.

What was the biggest surprise of ANGELIC NYC?

How supportive everyone is.

What is one piece of advice you would give to a young woman who wants to start her own company?

Just start your own company. Do not wait to start your company until you feel ready because ready is not a real thing and if you have a dream and passion, that is all that matters. You will learn along the way and you just need to believe in yourself.

Where do you go to college and what are you studying?

I am going into my sophomore year at the University of Wisconsin and I am studying retailing and consumer behavior; however, I am trying to get an individual major in happiness.

If you were stranded on a deserted island, what three things would you have?

Just my mom and my dog.

Describe yourself in one word.

How would your best friends describe you?

Friendly, kind, smiley, and fearless.

What is your favorite thing to eat?

Either blueberries, salmon, or mango.

What is your favorite television show?

Either ‘The Bachelor,’ ‘The Bachelorette,’ or ‘One Tree Hill.’

What is the last gift you received?

I do not like receiving gifts because I don’t like taking stuff from people.

What is your favorite quote and why?

‘In this day and age, everybody thinks that to be famous is to be happy, but having love and giving love are what’s going to make you happy.’ – Cameron Diaz.

If you do what you love and are surrounded with love, then you are happy and that’s all that matters. I want to be near people who love and I find love to be both powerful and inspirational.

What is next for ANGELIC NYC?

I want to keep expanding each and everyday, to introduce new designs, be carried in more stores, and have a men’s line pretty soon. I also really need help so I am looking for angelic people to help make ANGELIC NYC a household name. Yes, I plan to continue through college, hopefully open up a retail location by the time I graduate, create a charitable component, and one day pass it on to my children!
