What exactly is Chic Tees By Ally B?

Chic Tees by Ally B is a design service that provides custom made/embellished game day, bands, and festival apparel.

What inspired you to start Chic Tees By Ally B?

I started Chic Tees because there was not a cute and trendy shirt on the market that allowed women to express themselves uniquely at sporting events and tailgates. I wanted to create something that stood out in the crowd compared to a plain boring t-shirt.

Where do you get your inspiration?

I am a fashion-merchandising student and fashion is my passion. I follow day-to-day trends through Instagram, Pinterest, magazines, and fashion companies. My inspiration comes from within and unique characteristics I find in these fashion outlets. I could sit on Pinterest and explore pages on Instagram for hours!

How did you start Chic Tees By Ally B?

I started Chic Tees in my college apartment. At first I had known the basic lace up design that I wanted to make, but I could not figure out how to make it! I spent that morning before my one pm class at about five different craft stores. I could not find the grommet tape used to create the basic lace up look. I used to make my t-shirts completely different than I do now. My old process took about an hour and my new process only takes 15 minutes.

What is your favorite part of running Chic Tees By Ally B?

My absolute favorite part of running Chic Tees is being in charge of my social media and marketing and creating new styles and ideas for T-shirts. I love taking pictures of my friends and featuring them on my Instagram page as well as looking and shopping for new ideas and looks for my Chic Tee designs. I love following new girls and creating buzz for my company. Staging my photo shoots layouts is also so much fun because you get to be really creative.

What is the hardest part of running Chic Tees By Ally B?

The hardest part about running Chic Tees by Ally B has to be dealing with my finances, going to school full time, running my business, and making time for my social life, as well as dealing with customers and all of their needs and wants. It is my senior year, so I am really trying to be with friends and enjoy myself, but also running my business is my passion, so I try to create a stable lifestyle for myself.

What are your dreams for Chic Tees By Ally B?

My dreams for Chic Tees by Ally B would be to be able to open up pop ups in tons of boutiques and stores. I would love to have my line featured in different boutiques all around the United States at college campuses and basically run Chic Tees as my career.

What was the biggest surprise in your job?

The biggest surprise definitely has been the amount of people I have reached on my campus alone and how everyone knows who I am. When at the bar I have people walk up to me asking if, “‘I am that girl with the t-shirts!” It makes me feel so good about myself because everyone knows about my company and me. It makes me so happy because I have worked so hard and long on my company and for people to recognize it out and about is awesome. I was making a deposit at the bank a few months ago and the teller literally asked me if I was the girl who made the shirts. I was in awe because like how does the PNC teller know who I am?! It was awesome!

What is one piece of advice you would give to a young woman wanting to start her company?

My advice would be to always follow your heart and never give up because you never know what will happen. My business started out of my apartment selling to my friends. I never knew or believed that I would be able to be doing the sales I am doing now!

Where do you go to school and what are you studying?

I am graduating from West Virginia University with a Fashion Merchandising major and a communications and business minor in May 2017.

What is your current binge watch?

My current binge watch is Desperate Housewives. I have seen the series before, but my roommate and I were so bored with the recent shows so we took a little throwback step and are lovingggg the show again.

What is your guilty pleasure?

My guilty pleasure would have to be shopping for no reason. When bored, I will literally go to the mall and stroll around alone looking for the next best trend or design.
