Today, we welcome to the Fit List Lisa Barse Bernstein, Global Head of Human Resources for Apollo Global Management. We love Lisa’s great advice for women in the workplace:
“I wish more women in the workplace would push themselves beyond their comfort zones. Men do it all the time. Women think they are being deceptive. To men, selling their ideas to get a head is paramount to their career ambitions. To women, it can feel artificial or political. Women can be authentic AND ambitious. I love it when I see women in the workplace find their balance as their authentic self interacts with their ambitious self. Its magical.”
Lisa joined Apollo in March 2008 as the Global Head of Human Resources where she has built and developed a best in class Human Resources function for the firm. Lisa is responsible for providing leadership in developing and executing the global human resources strategy in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of the firm, specifically in the areas of succession planning, talent management, compensation, human capital and organizational planning, employee engagement, training and development, and benefits. Lisa is a member of Apollo’s Management Operating Committee which is responsible for operational management and decision making for the firm. Prior to joining Apollo, Ms. Bernstein was the Chief Talent Officer for Interbrand Corporation, an Omnicom Company. Prior to that, she was a partner and employment lawyer with Seyfarth Shaw. Ms. Bernstein graduated from the University of Michigan with an A.B. in Political Science and from Fordham University School of Law with a J.D.
