Can you tell us a little about yourself?
I’m a mom of 1 and wife of 1 ;), a Jesus lover and creative. I love to make beautiful things and help make the world a little better in the process.
What exactly is Trumpet + Tassel?
Trumpet + Tassel is a tassel jewelry brand committed to helping make positive social change by trumpeting causes and giving back to these local, national, and international nonprofits that are making a difference in the world.
What inspired you to start Trumpet + Tassel?
My inspiration came from visiting a maker market on the island of Oahu. I’ve also always been committed to living for a cause and so it was a natural progression to start a social enterprise. My own and loved ones’ struggles with mental health issues has led me to mainly donate to these types of non-profits.
How did you come up with the name?
Trumpet – trumpet a cause and Tassel – tassel jewelry. We are tiny tassels for big causes.
You give back with every purchase, can you tell us about that?
10% of every purchase goes towards that month’s chosen non-profit. I choose them based on how I feel about a particular place and issue at that time. I am currently donating to a mental health crisis unit for children and youth in the city close to where we live. It has been a very helpful place to many in our region and unfortunately mental health care doesn’t get the funding it deserves and requires.
What is your favorite part about running Trumpet + Tassel??
I love creating and being independent. It’s an amazing thing to be your own boss and to create beautiful things for beautiful women. If my business didn’t give back though I likely wouldn’t do it.
What is your least favorite part about running Trumpet + Tassel??
Being your own boss means self-motivation is absolutely necessary! This can be difficult when depression is a recurring issue.
Is there a favorite product?
I would have to say our new tassel and charm bangles and necklaces. I love that they tell a personal story of who someone is, what they’re fighting for, and who God says they are. They are encouraging and full of hope. They also look amazing!
