What exactly is Trends by Frida?

Trends By Frida is a shop that sells handmade handbags and accessories from Mexico and Nicaragua. The goal is to inspire women to wear colorful and cultural fashion #shophandmade

What inspired you to start Trends by Frida?

I first have to confess that I’m a huge shopaholic! I have always love shopping handmade & unique fashion pieces. It all started, when family and friends were constantly asking me where I was buying my handbags & accessories and it was that point that I decided to start Trends By Frida. Also, I felt many women didn’t know the amazing skill artisans Mexico and Nicaragua have that create such amazing fashion pieces.

How did you come up with the name?

The name Trends By Frida was inspired by Frida Kahlo, an icon in Mexican history. Frida Kahlo was never scared to be herself and even though she had to overcome many obstacles she never gave up on her dreams! A true inspiration and reminder to ever give up on my dreams.

Your products are 100% handwoven by artisans; can you tell us about that?

Yes, all handbags and accessories at Trends By Frida are 100% handmade by local artisans in Mexico and Nicaragua. I love working along side artisans and local communities to help conserve their arts and growth of artisanal trade, so future generations are able to keep doing what they love to do.

Is there a favorite product?

I honestly have to say that all the handbags and accessories at Trends By Frida are my favorite! The more colorful the handbag is, the more I fall in love with it.

What is your favorite part about running Trends by Frida?

My favorite part of running Trends By Frida has to be connecting with my amazing customers. Getting to know them on personal level and explaining the art and history behind each handbag.

What is your least favorite part about running Trends by Frida?

My least favorite part of running Trends By Frida has to be saying bye to all the beautiful handbags and accessories once customers buy them.

How do you spread the word about your company?

Instagram is the best platform to engage with customers and make your brand known. Through Instagram I have met so many people from different parts of the world, which now have become close friends of mine.

Do you have any advice for fellow entrepreneurs?

My advice to fellow entrepreneurs is to not be afraid to start your business! Every good and bad experience is a learning lesson to become a better leader and business. Don’t let anyone tell you your idea is “stupid”, no such thing as a stupid idea! Go for it and follow your passion

Do you have a favorite quote or go to saying?

My favorite quote has to be from The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho “The simple things are also the most extraordinary things, and only the wise can see them”.
