The Change Box is a monthly subscription box that supports worthy causes and ethical brands while also giving back themselves! Each product is specially picked and unique such as natural beauty products, lifestyle items and snacks!
What exactly is the Change Box?
The Change Box is a plant-based gift and subscription box focused on showcasing brands that care. Every product within the box is plant-based and focused on something good, whether that be giving back to charity or sustainability. We, at The Change Box also give back a portion of our profits to charity.
What is your mission?
To use business to create positive change in the world and to showcase and support other brands doing the same. We also want to encourage purchasing with a purpose, putting your dollar towards brands doing good, that are also amazing and high quality.
What inspired you to start the Change Box?
I saw so many amazing social enterprise-based brands being born and wanted to help showcase them.
Where did you get your inspiration from?
What items do you include in your box and how do you choose them?
We have beauty, snacks and lifestyle items in the box and we primarily find brands on Instagram and reach out to ask them if they would like to be in The Change Box. We focus on finding unique brands that stand out in the quality of their product and the good they do.
How do you spread the word about your company?
We use Facebook, Instagram and word-of-mouth. All three are really powerful for different reasons. Facebook and Instagram helps us build our brands voice and aesthetic, while word-of-mouth helps develop a community around The Change Box.
What are your goals for the Change Box?
To continue to grow and give back more. Our main focus is always building a community around purchasing with purpose, so continuing to provide ways to engage our community and do good.
What is the biggest surprise you’ve had since you started the Change Box?
Early in 2017 we won the Collective Hub x Lexus Start Up package and this was a huge surprise for us! We sent in our video application just over a month after starting our business and we were still very new and unsure of what we were doing, haha. So, winning the start-up package gave us a lot of confidence in our vision.
What is one piece of advice you would give to a young woman who wants to start her own company?
Just get started. Sometimes it feels scary, overwhelming or unreal but the only way you get through that is by getting started. Start to build a community around your business and your vision and, in my experience, that really helps keep you motivated and moving towards your goals.
