Can you tell us a little about yourself?
What exactly is The Style Club?
What inspired you to start The Style Club?
I originally wanted to start a younger QVC because my background is in TV/Film production. I love making music videos and film shorts so I was interested in creating a platform where one can watch cool fashion videos and shop all in one place. I failed miserably, its not a concept you can bootstrap. Then I was just messing around with a hobby of mine while I was a teenager on tour (making my costumes to wear on stage) the minute I started doing that The Style Club became an apparel brand.
At The Style Club you have different values, can you tell us about those?
All in all, just be a nice person. Be yourself and support your local girl gang.
What is your favorite part about running The Style Club?
I really enjoy seeing other people happy and when I feel like we made a difference in someone else’s life. I know it sounds silly because we’re talking about “fashion” but in everything we make theres a message that goes along with it, that empowers our girl. I’m extremely passionate about spreading a positive message and creating a place for everyone to feel included. We don’t care about your size, race, sexual preference… we just want you to be YOU because that’s beautiful! Creating an experience that was inclusive and empowering has always been at the core of everything I’ve done in the past and what motivates me everyday.
You were featured on Shark Tank, can you share that experience with us?
Shark Tank was a great experience. I loved every minute of it. There is a long application process and no guarantee that you will get in front of the Sharks or make it on air, you’re basically on stand by for months but its worth it.
Is your clothing sold in stores or just online?
Our brand can be found in store and online at Urban Outfitters, American Eagle, Nordstrom, Nylon, Skinny Dip London, Boutiques all over the US and internationally and coming this fall to Macy’s!
How do you spread the word about your company?
It’s all been a gorilla marketing effort. We work with a lot of influencers and have a massive number of Style Club ambassadors!
Do you have a favorite quote or go to saying?
“You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something – your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever.” steve jobs
Do you have any advice for young entrepreneurs?
You have to be genuinely passionate about your business. Once you find out whatever that is, go for it full speed ahead don’t let anyone ever tell you you can’t.
