Can you tell us a little about yourself?
My name is Natalie and I’m a sun chasing, travel-loving gal pursuing my passion for people, handmade treasures, and friendships through my business – Solmana Collection.
What exactly is Solmana Collection?
Solmana Collection is a travel treasures brand with a mission to make a positive impact on each other and our world by bringing artisan made products to my sol sisters worldwide. I travel, collect, and collaborate with artisans for each beautiful treasure.
What inspired you to start Solmana Collection?
When I traveled outside of the US for the first time and saw artisan made bags in Costa Rica, I fell in love. The meaning, culture, and care behind each piece as well as the fact that one is never the same is incredibly special.
I was inspired to share these treasures with others – so Solmana Collection was born! Everyone deserves to have special, one of a kind items – as do the artisans deserve to have their work shared with people from all over the world.
How did you come up with the name?
In Spanish, sol means sun, and hermana means sister, thus creating “solmana”. I believe us women are all sisters under the sun!
Items are collected by one sol sister for another; can you tell us about that?
I collect all the pieces for Solmana myself and each one is collected with my sol sisters in mind. Pieces they will love, be proud to wear, and unique to her.
Is there a favorite product?
I’ve been working on a collection of bags with an indigenous woman, Felicia, in Costa Rica, so all of those are my favorite! They’re Mother Nature’s treasures – made from plants and trees in the area, inspired by life under the sun… I just adore them.
What is your favorite part about running Solmana Collection?
What is your least favorite part about running Solmana Collection?
Going against the mainstream of the fast fashion industry is pretty difficult. I’m passionate about building a brand that respects artisans, culture, uniqueness, and all around fairness in a world where everyone is used to fast and cheap things… but I firmly believe others want the same as what I believe in. If all else fails I’m happy Solmana impacts the artisans because I purchase their products upfront.
How do you spread the word about your company?
Social media, word of mouth, and attending markets around the Florida area helps spread the word.
Do you have any advice for fellow entrepreneurs?
If you have a dream that you’re passionate about – GO FOR IT.
Do you have a favorite quote or go to saying? ☺
Don’t wait. The time will never be just right – Napoleon Hill
Is there anything else you would like to share with us?
