Why Every Day Should Be Siblings’ Day

Since yesterday was Siblings Day, I did a lot of reflecting about my relationships with my sisters. As we’ve grown older, they have really become my best friends. Here are some reasons why having siblings gives you automatic forever friends.

You can’t escape

When you and your siblings get into arguments, you can’t ignore them forever. It is inevitable that, eventually, you will be forced by some relative to make up and forgive each other. With other friends, it is much easier to just give up and move onto someone else. With siblings, you are forced to work your way through the arguments and tough times, making your relationship even stronger than ever.

They know EVERYTHING about you

Let’s be real– who knows you better than family? My sisters have the ability to read me like a book. We each know when the others are in a bad mood and when to leave them alone. We know when they are upset, and when they need someone to talk to. Siblings have the ability to sense when they are needed, and to be there for you when you need them the most. They know your darkest secrets, most embarrassing moments, and worst personality traits. But, they love you unconditionally for it.

They have the best shoulders to lean on

Siblings are the best people to talk to when you need advice. As I said before, they know you better than anyone else does. If you have something you don’t want to tell your parents about, your siblings are the best people to talk to. Although sometimes they may be brutally honest, it may be exactly what you need. Your siblings are the best people to give you their honest opinion, whether that opinion is a deep subject or an outfit choice. They are always the most reliable people, and will never lead you in the wrong direction.

Overall, I have realized a lot lately that I cannot live without my sisters. They have become my absolute best friends, and I am not looking forward to the day we all go our separate ways and start our own lives. Although that time is coming up quickly, I know that, no matter what, we will always have each others’ backs. We will always have the corny inside jokes, the memories of the good and bad times we shared. Regardless of where we are and how physically far apart we become, we will always be sisters, and they will always be my best friends. Give your siblings a big hug this week because, although sometimes you might “hate them,” you can’t live without them. They truly are your forever best friends.
