Revive Jewelry – For Charities, Honoring Loved Ones & Survivors

Can you tell us a little about yourself?

Hi! My name is Nikki Hillman and I am the designer/owner of Revive Jewelry. I have been making jewelry since I was a small child- it has been a life-long passion. I went to school for jewelry design and have been working toward owning and designing a successful brand ever since. I live near the beach in Los Angeles with my husband. When I’m not making jewelry, I love to exercise, read, shop and get coffee with friends.

What exactly is Revive Jewelry?

Revive Jewelry is motivated by the diseases that affect us all. Every design is based on a microscopic image of the disease it represents. We donate 20% of profit to a charity that benefits each specific illness. My designs are created by tracing the outlines of cell images. The drawings are then hand modeled and transformed into unique castings. Paired with healing stones, each style is intended to make you feel beautiful while proudly displaying your inner warrior.

My most recent collection, Vitality, raises funds for three causes: Breast Cancer, Lung Cancer and Melanoma. Every pendant is named after a person in my life who inspired it’s creation, honoring the special people living with—and dying from—these diseases. Because everyone’s experience is different, each one tells a unique story, but all share the goal of raising money to eradicate disease.

By wearing Revive Jewelry, you shine a light on these invisible foes, bringing visibility to them and the people who struggle against them. Whether you wear Revive to support a survivor or remember a lost loved one, you embody this struggle and honor their story. Our jewelry is not just beautiful, but is also a badge of courage that proudly represents you as part of the fight against disease.

What inspired you to start Revive Jewelry?

While studying jewelry in college, I first conceived of Revive when I noticed the unique shape of the microscopic image of the H1N1 virus. I used the disease’s outline to create a brooch that gained rave reviews for transforming something so devastating into an objet d’art.

Shortly after graduating college, my grandfather passed away from lung cancer. I felt absolutely powerless as I witnessed his rapid decline. After the heartbreaking experience of watching my grandfather – the man who helped raised me – taken from me by a ruthless disease, I could have lost so much more… my light, my purpose, my will to go on. Instead, I thrived. That dark experience helped me realize that I needed to do something to help, and that’s when the idea of Revive came full circle for me. Strength replaced grief and my mission was clear.

We’ve all experienced a disease that touches our lives in one way or another. Whether it be a relative, friend, co-worker, or yourself, we all know people who are dealing with serious illness. How wonderful would it be for us to put our efforts together and find a cure for not just one, but for all of these diseases? That’s my dream.

How did you come up with the name?

Revive: the word conjures images of breathing life back into something that has perished.
It is with this principle that I make my designs. Revive is a metaphor for what the jewelry is intended to do. I want them to breathe life back into those who may feel deflated or downtrodden. To empower them or their loved ones against the disease by making it beautiful. Being able to look diseases in the eye and truly embrace the nature of it allows us to take away it’s power as a negative force.

Stay Fit and Healthy

You donate 20% of your profits to a charity, can you tell us about that?

Revive is connected to the charities that make the most effort to fight the disease they represent. Each charity is carefully selected to have the best use of every dollar and the most dedication to fighting for a cure. Rather than donating to a general cancer research fund, it is important to me that the charities fighting for the specific cause receive the funding.

Your designs are based on cellular images of diseases & paired with healing stones, can you tell us about that?

I take images of cells that are found mainly in scientific journals or other public forums. For example, I will decide on a disease that I want to raise money for. Usually this is because I have been inspired by someone’s story. I will then start researching for images online. Once I find the image that I like, I will do one of two processes. The first is pretty straightforward. I cut out a shape from the image and set it in a sterling silver or 14k gold filled setting or bezel and then encase it under resin. The second involves creating a 3D model. I will use the same image and actually draw on top of it. I use special software to create a 3D model from my drawing. I then have the model cast in sterling silver or 14k gold. Once I have the castings, I design and build the pieces around that by adding in semi-precious stones and crystals. The healing stones are an added benefit. Not only are they beautiful, but I truly believe in their power. Regardless of having an illness or not, crystals can help you in so many different capacities. I have been the recipient of this help many times! I encourage everyone to try it.

Is there a favorite product?
I have to say that I am absolutely in love with my Double Chain with Blue Quartz & Leda Pendant. This necklace is a unique take on a classic bar style. It also has the gorgeous faceted blue quartz and a built in layered look- I just can’t even, I’m mildly obsessed!

This is cheesy, but there are not enough hours in the day! I’m always running out of time! Also, cold-calling, yuck.

How do you spread the word about your company?

I use social media, mainly Instagram and Facebook. I also have my website and emails. Sign up for a free gift with your first purchase!

Do you have any advice for fellow entrepreneurs?

You have to be ready to spend all your time making things happen- all the things! From creative to sales to photography to customer service, it all rests on your shoulders, so be prepared to wear a lot of hats. I believe that what we put into the universe is what we get back. So, stay positive and envision your goals regularly. Keep working hard and never quit your dream!
