The Rise of Rain Booties by Lee Tulchin

With the impending showers of El Niño right around the corner, it’s the perfect time to re-think your current rainy day shoe game. In recent years, the very sustainable Wellington boot has been the slipper of choice for the rain-soaked Cinderella. However, the rain booty seems to be making a splash this season.

raingiphy        These ankle length rain boots have all the impermeability of their knee high cousins but with half the fuss. Full length Hunter boots may be symbols of the ‘weather can’t get me down’ mentality needed in order to brace the cold storms of winter, but rain booties are new in town and ready to make the best of any forecast or outfit with ease. While typical Wellingtons definitely make a statement (usually of “The rain can’t mess with me.” variety), new and reduced rain booties don’t…which may be a statement in itself. Like the girl at the party that’s alluring and mysterious, the rain booty has the ability to blend into any situation and still look appealing. Don’t believe me? I come prepared.

Yeah, you read that correctly. These baby booties even work with the least waterproof article of clothing in your wardrobe. Their effortless look exudes more stylish ankle boot than it does water-resistant puddle trudgers. This means they’re not confined to the typical niche of rain boots (you know, rain?). They can even be worn in the spring!

Now, can your Wellies do that?… I didn’t think so.

Some cute rain booties to check out!
