It is officially summer, and that means it is officially time to start livin easy. There is something about significant amounts of sunshine and blue skies that drags the work ethic right out of everyone. Your determination and efficiency that you once knew and loved spontaneously up and left as soon as your snapchat filter read 80 degrees. That’s okay, it’s natural, and the good news is everyone from the intern to the CEO is feeling the same way. So while here at She’s Fit To Lead we preach hard work, we also recognize the need for a “recharge.” That is why we say work as best you can during the work week and then get the hell-outta-town. After all, it’s just wrong to work on America’s birthday!
Now if you do take our advice, which we strongly believe you should, you’re going to need clothes- duh. Those that live in cold weather states know that the time in which summer attire is acceptable is limited- yet we still find it essential to fill our closets with the hottest summer trends. Being that I am a born and bred New Yorker, I am living, breathing proof of this frivolous phenomenon. The duration in which our winter clothes must last us is three times as long as the short two months us North-easterners receive hot weather. I think I can speak for a lot of people when I say that these months, while short, are some of the best months for fashion- so why would we ever give it up!
Others, who are seemingly more fortunate than the rest of us and see Sun, Sun, Mr. Golden Sun all year round, understand more than anyone the importance of a good summer wardrobe. So whether you’re located in New York City, Chicago, LA, or anywhere in between- listen up because it is about that time of year again and we are just giddy with excitement to show you our Weekend Getaway favorites…
Flying? Driving? Bussing? Friday afternoons are for traveling away from the hustle and bustle of the workplace and towards your favorite weekend spot no matter the form of transportation. For JUMPstarting your weekend getaway we LOVE this L’agence denim JUMPsuit (pun intended). It’s light, casual and downright adorable- making it perfect for summer travel.
Tie the look together with Rag and Bone hightops and leather backpack (a perfect accessory to hold your mini shampoo and conditioner bottles) and you are good to go.
Once you have just about settled into your humble abode for the weekend, the travel gear must come off. We suggest throwing on a Enzo Costa wife beater and McGuire cuffed jeans for a comfortable “beachy-chic” fit. This season is all about statement necklaces so dress up that slouchy tank with one. The more layers, the better.
Hitting your favorite beach town? Grab your things and throw them into the endless Fiora Bella bag pictured here. While our Rag and Bone hightops are just perfect for travelling, sneakers and sand are like oil and water. Save those kicks for the ride home and slip on these amazing Elyse Walker tan suede wedges. These two items practically gravitate towards each other.
We only have so many summer weekends, ladies! Take advantage of them and do it in style. Happy relaxing!
