Can you tell us a little about yourself?
I was raised in New York City, and graduated from Duke University in 2002. The things I am most passionate about are family, friends, career and sports. I love travel, summers in the Hamptons, and relaxing at home with my dogs – Baxter and Gemma.
What exactly is B Floral?
B Floral is a floral and event design firm. We work on full event production, event design and floral design. B Floral focuses on branding and works with clients to showcase their brands through exceptional design and experiential events.
What inspired you to start B Floral?
I originally worked in the world of finance on Wall Street but quickly realized it wasn’t my true passion. With my business background and nearly a decade of experience in sports and hospitality, I knew that I was built for a career in events. After exploring my creative side through floral design training, I was able to blend together all facets of my education and background to start B Floral.
How did you come up with the name?
As my team always says, I put the “B” in B Floral. I wanted the name of my business to reflect the passion I feel towards floral and event design. Each client who comes to B Floral will immediately notice my involvement in every aspect of their upcoming event.
What is your favorite part about running B Floral?
I love being completely hands on with all aspects of B Floral- whether I’m designing a flower wall for a client or implementing a new marketing initiative. My goal is to always see a client’s brand and vision come to life through florals and event design. There’s nothing more exciting than seeing my team successfully execute a challenging event.
What is your least favorite part about running B Floral?
An interesting challenge that I face daily is balancing my involvement in the actual design process and my involvement in the day-to-day behind the scenes business aspects. Now that our company has grown, we have over 20 employees and it’s often difficult to go from ‘business mode’ to ‘design mode.’
B Floral is passionate about giving back, can you tell us how you do so?
Ever since my childhood, giving back has always been a large part of my life. I’m currently involved with two organizations that are very dear to my heart- Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance and Change For Kids. B Floral has donated florals and design expertise for many of their events over the years. I’m proud of my team for their dedication and passion in giving back to the community.
How do you manage B Floral and your personal life/family?
It’s certainly not an easy task. For me, family will always come first. I’m lucky to have an incredible team at B Floral and to be living in an age where I am constantly connected to my email and phone (for good or bad!) at times when I’m traveling or celebrating occasions with family and friends. I also have a very supportive family and social network who don’t mind helping me brainstorm new event ideas, or navigate the challenges that come with owning a business.
How do you spread the word about your company?
At B Floral, we emphasize the importance of growing our brand presence in New York City as well as in other markets across the country. Social media marketing is one of the primary ways we spread the word about our brand, especially focusing on Instagram. We love interacting with potential clients and showing off the wide range of abilities and styles we’re able to deliver. I have also been able to maintain a strong network of friends and former colleagues throughout the years who have helped to introduce us to new clients and opportunities. Networking is key!
Do you have any advice for fellow entrepreneurs?
My biggest advice would be to go after what you want. I know it’s hard to really put yourself out there and to take a risk, but if you never try, you will never discover what’s ahead.
Do you have a favorite quote or go to saying?
“Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.”
