Last year, I left a big job in the financial industry to follow my dream of starting a company dedicated to helping women become more confident. I wanted to wake up every morning and feel like I was doing something that I really cared about. I wanted to make a difference.
However, deciding to make the move was really scary. I’ve never been an entrepreneur. From the day I graduated law school, I worked in the world of big corporations – salary, benefits, structure and stability. Giving that up was like jumping off a cliff with no parachute or safety net.
If I had sat around making lists of pros and cons of starting a company, I think I would still be at my desk surrounded by lists today. Minds are great at protecting us from harm, but they can also be paralyzing. Sometimes, you just have to take that leap recognizing you may never be totally sure what is going to happen after you do.
That’s how I felt about She’s Fit to Lead. No matter what my head said, my heart wouldn’t allow anything different. My heart made sure that I didn’t let my passion get extinguished.
When you listen to your heart, amazing things happen!
