Kim Lewis serves as Senior Vice President, Midwest and West Coast Sales for BET Networks (BET). She oversees advertising and integrated marketing partnerships across the Midwest and West Coast Regions. Kim’s responsibilities include building creative and strategic partnership opportunities for brands utilizing BET’s unparalleled collection of multimedia assets: BET, Centric, BET.com and BET Mobile. Kim has established a collaborative and innovative approach to the business. Through her leadership, BET has experienced significant revenue growth in the West/Midwest regions, solidified key brand partnerships, and capitalized on non-traditional revenue streams.
Kim began her career as an Account Executive for BET in 1992. She opened the Los Angeles office for BET’s publication division. Kim doubled revenue within the first year, which led her to rapid advancement within the company. Her ground breaking promotional programs helped build new brand partnerships and established BET as a custom solutions provider. As a result of her success, Kim began handling all West Coast promotions across all platforms for the Entertainment category, which is still one of the largest revenue drivers for the network. In 1994 Kim was promoted to Director of Corporate Media Sales. During this time she implemented strategic selling processes that led her team to enter new markets and build successful partnerships within the following key categories: Entertainment, Automotive, Athletic Shoe, Retail and Telecommunications.
In 1997, Kim was promoted to Director of West Coast Regional Sales for BET Networks. She continued to achieve significant revenue growth year after year and in 2001, Kim was promoted to Vice President Western Regional Sales. Under her management, the West Coast revenue nearly tripled within 4 years, which vastly outpaced the marketplace. With her pulse on the business, Kim saw the progression of media consumption and ultimately the need to provide the full 360 approach to maintain competitive positioning. She played a critical role in utilizing the BET digital properties to build compelling and comprehensive multi-platform solutions. In 2005, she was promoted to Senior Vice President, Midwest and West Coast Regional Sales for BET Network and BET J. Kim continued to focus her team’s efforts on a strategic selling approach along with creating synergistic partnership opportunities. In February 2009, Kim was appointed to oversee all West Coast and Midwest Digital Sales.
Kim’s success can be attributed to her commitment to the brand, her desire to enhance consumer value, and her belief in driving revenue through creativity and cutting-edge innovation. Kim’s holistic, integrated vision played an integral role in shaping the BET Networks sales efforts. BET is the dominant African-American consumer brand with a diverse group of business extensions where she is responsible for managing over $100 million in annual revenue. Currently in Kim’s 24th year in the advertising industry, her contributions have greatly attributed to BET’s success.
Kim holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from The University of California at Berkeley. She is based in Los Angeles, but also works in BET’s Chicago office. Kim resides in Chatsworth, CA with her husband Kevin and daughter Kimora.
