Can you tell us a little about yourself?
My name is Dani and I am a designer, artist, and photographer. I am the founder of Dazey LA and co-founder of Biz Babez.
What inspired you to start Dazey?
I have been a graphic tee designer for about 6 years prior to starting Dazey working for all sorts of companies like Urban Outfitters, Macys, Anthropologie, Nordstrom, Hot topic, Torrid, and Amuse Society just to name a few.
How did you come up with the name?
I wanted a name that didn’t necessarily mean anything, but more evoked a feeling. Something that could define itself. Dazey is the result of weeks of back and forth text messages with my sister! We were trying to come up with something that had a vintage California feel to it and one of us said Dazey and it just stuck!
Where are your products sold? Are they sold in stores?
We focus on our online store and promote via Instagram. But we are carried in a lot of awesome boutiques all around the world!
What is your favorite part about running Dazey?
I love having creative and personal freedom to design and travel whatever and wherever I want! Another part that is very rewarding is being able to create a community around my brand. Weather it’s the countless female entrepreneurs I collaborate with or being able to connect with my customers on a personal level!
How do you manage Dazey and your personal life/family?
Oh boy it’s not easy! They certainly all bleed into one another. I’m very much the face of Dazey and I’m constantly showing both my personal and professional life on instagram stories. Giving myself permission to take break when I’m feeling stressed out is hard to do, but I’m getting better. Also I try may hardest to maintain a regular work schedule!
You are fueling art and small businesses with each purchase, can you tell us about that?
Where people spend their money they are casting a vote for what kind of future they want. I have built my brand to promote female entrepreneurship, be environmentally friendly, and ethically made. I not only carry my brand but also apparel, art, and accessories made by other small business women. When you buy something from my store you are helping build a future where women have financial freedom and are able to chase their dreams.
Is there a favorite product?
Right now I can’t get enough of our graphic turtlenecks and bell sleeve bodies! There’s nothing like a classic clothing piece like a graphic tee done in a different and unique way.
How do you spread the word about your company?
Like many of my fellow millennial Biz Babez I use social media! It’s free, it’s personal, it’s creative and a great way to connect with your customers.
Do you have any advice for fellow entrepreneurs?
Believe in yourself even when nobody else does! Don’t try to look like a big established brand, embrace being small and personal. That’s been my biggest asset!
Do you have a favorite quote or go to saying?
I often put my best quotes right on my tees and my current favorite is
“Fall or fly, it’s worth a try.”
