Daenerys Targaryen is more than the Mother of Dragons, she is the Mother of My Heart. This fearless queen in HBO’s “Game of Thrones” has gone above and beyond throughout the series to prove that no matter what circumstances a woman endures, she can always make her way to being fit to lead any situation. Here are seven reasons why Dany is fit to lead, and why she is, and forever will be, my #WCE.

Rather than conforming to societal pressures, she took control of her relationship with Khal Drogo
When Dany was forced to wed Khal Drogo, ruler of the Dothraki, she was expected to obey his every command and basically act as a submissive housewife; however, she made it quickly known that she wasn’t about to live that kind of lifestyle. She harnessed her inner dragon and took control of the relationship, and her forced marriage slowly transcended into one of love and respect.

    1. She isn’t afraid to stick up for herself
Dany is not afraid to tell a man where he can stick his sexist comments and opinions. Whether it is her own brother, kings, rulers of opposing armies, or even her own husband — who, by the way, comes from a culture where the wife of the king is submissive in all respects—Dany makes it known that she is not vulnerable or weak in any regard. She makes sure her followers and her enemies know that she will never give up and will never give in to anyone’s criticisms or pressures.

  1. The Breaker of Chains is also the breaker of hearts…literally
When people traditionally think of queens, they think of extremely feminine, polite, fragile little women who don’t really do much. These people have obviously never watched “Game of Thrones,” as Daenerys is more than a beautiful face. She’s the woman who will break any chain used to restrain her and who will eat any heart placed in her way, literally.
  2. She doesn’t just talk the talk, she walks the walk
Being a queen is a responsibility, and nobody proves that more than Daenerys. She doesn’t just let her many titles — the Mother of Dragons, Khaleesi, and Daenerys Stormborn — identify her position in the world. She uses her titles to catapult change in the world around her.
  3. Her heart is basically made of pure Valyrian Steel
Some women have hearts of gold, but GoT fans know that gold is nothing compared to Valyrian Steel. In a world full of poverty and an affinity for torture and slavery, Daenerys stands up for those who were held against their will to serve others. While many other rulers focus on acquiring land and armies for purely political reasons, Daenerys works to free those who have been oppressed because she honestly believes it is the right thing to do.
  4. She’s incredibly cultured
There’s nothing fiercer than a cultured queen. Dany is fluent in various languages, and she makes a point to learn about the different cultures she is immersed in. Whether she agrees with all the customs she comes across or not, she ensures that her opinion is based off knowledge, not pure observation.
  5. She’s the mother of freakin’ dragons
The terrible two’s take on a whole new meaning when you’re dealing with dragons. Yeah, children may be difficult, but when they scream at you for punishing them you don’t run the risk of being burned alive. It takes a woman of serious composure to be fit to lead to not only rule over people but love and care for three dragons.

Daenerys is the real Queen Bee and is an inspiration to all women who are fit to lead. I can’t wait to see what incredible advancements she makes this season and for her to become the mother of everyone’s heart.
