Top 5 Super Bowl Commercials of All Time by Shelby Wildgust

super-bowl-logo-basicI’ll be the first to admit that I am not a football fan. Despite having a boyfriend who is literally the fan of all fans, I just don’t find the sport that appealing. It seems like a whole lot of standing around to me. Now, don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the atmosphere a good game creates, and I will never pass up tickets to go to an actual game, BUT if I had to decide between watching a football game and binge-watching How To Get Away With Murder, you’ll most likely see my eyes glued to my Netflix account.

And to be completely honest, I am more excited about what happens when the game is OFF the screen, and the commercials are rolling.

In case you didn’t know, Super Bowl commercials are almost as big of a deal as the actual game itself, and to some people, like me, they are even a bigger deal. These commercials are 30-seconds of GREAT T.V., and with the price of about a 4 to 5 MILLION DOLLARS per half a minute, these commercials are always the best.

superbowlgiphySo, with the 50th anniversary of the Super Bowl happening as you read, what are THE BEST commercials EVER to air? Well, I caught a “Special Edition Top 50 SuperBowl Commercials of ALL Time” T.V. Program on CBS, and here is the verdict on the TOP 5 of ALL Time:

Coming in at Number 5:

Miracle Stain with Joe Montana (Click Here)

miracle stainThis is an ad for Tide and was featured during the 2013 SuperBowl. It’s hilarious and has a great twist at the end. It kind of reminds of this article I found on Buzzfeed about the 22 People Who Found Jesus In Their Food.

Up next at Number 4:

Mean Joe Green and the Coca Cola Kid (Click Here)

CocaColaMeanJoeGreeneAhhh, of course there has to be a Coca Cola commercial in the top 5! This was made in 1979, so my guess is that it predates the majority of us reading this article, yet it is still a classic, and it still puts a smile on my face, no matter how outdated the quality is.

My personal favorite, Number 3:

Always #LikeAGirl (Click Here)

likeagirlThis was aired during last year’s Super Bowl, and I remember the reaction of the entire room when it was over. We all just stopped what we were doing and sat in silence for a second. I think I might have even shed a tear. This was empowering, the truth, and needed to be heard. Thank you Always!

The runner up, Number 2:

Volkswagen The Force (Click Here)

volkswagenAired during the 2011 Super Bowl, this commercial leaves me cracking up by the end. How can you not just fall completely inlove with this little Darth Vader kid? And what a clever idea from Volkswagen!

And FINALLY, the BEST Super Bowl Commerical EVER Aired:

Budweiser Clydesdales Brotherhood (Click Here)

ClydesdalesYou can always count on Budweiser to deliver a heartwarming commercial featuring their famous Clydesdales, a very good looking man, and usually, an adorable puppy. There is no puppy in this particular commercial, but it does have the other two. This, too, brought tears to my eyes, and made me question the old saying “A dog is a man’s best friend.”  Are you sure it’s not a horse!?

Well there you have it! The top FIVE SuperBowl Commericals ever aired! I can’t wait to see what’s coming up in this year’s line up.  I know the stakes are higher than ever, and boundaries will be pushed. If you have any other commercials that you LOVED from previous Super Bowls, please comment below, and let us know what you think tonight! We would love to hear your opinion!
