What is Au Courant Life?
Au Courant Life is a destination for all things Fashion, Health, and Lifestyle. It encourages women to be confident through what they wear, to respect themselves through a balanced diet, and to live out their passions while enjoying their life.
What inspired you to start Au Courant Life?
I have always had a ton of passions and loved to share advice with my friends when I was younger. I was a competitive gymnast from a very young age, which automatically made health and fitness a huge part of my life. At the same time, I had a side of me that loved all things fashion and beauty, and I also have always had a huge passion for writing. After tearing my ACL my junior year of high school, I needed a new outlet to express myself instead of gymnastics, so what better way than to bring all my passions into one place where I could inspire others and even learn more about myself!
Where do you get your inspiration?
I get my inspiration literally everywhere. I constantly am in my notes writing lists, ideas of new blog posts, inspirational quotes, recipe ideas, etc. Sometimes a friend will come to me asking how to tone a certain part of their body, or maybe it will be a question about what colors and trends will be in style in the upcoming season. I always feel inspired to write about that specific subject they are asking me about so that I can spread the advice to thousands of people instead of just one. If one person is asking about it, a few hundred more are probably wondering about it.
What is it like to run a blog?
I won’t sugarcoat it- It’s anything but easy. Running my website is truly a full time job and takes so much commitment and effort every day. Tons of girls write to me asking how to start their own blog, but soon enough, most people realize it’s not as easy or as simple as it looks. I constantly have to keep up with the content and be consistent (or else I risk losing followers), keep up with all my social media pages, market myself so that I can constantly be bringing in more viewers, and juggle school work and my social life all at the same time. However, when you really love something, it shouldn’t ever feel like work; and I am lucky enough to feel that way.
Have you have written for a blog or ran a blog before Au Courant Life?
I have written in journals my entire life which, I think really prepared me without even really realizing it. Since I have written for myself for so many years, it helped me develop a voice of my own, and a voice that is relatable to young women just like me.
What is your favorite part of running Au Courant Life?
My favorite part of running Au Courant Life is without a doubt all the feedback I hear from friends, family, fans, teachers, and even random people I meet. It is so rewarding to run and create something that is entirely mine and see it grow over time. I also love looking back on old posts to when I first started Au Courant Life as a junior in high school and seeing how much I have developed as a person and how much my website has improved in general.
Where do you go to school and what do you study?
I am currently a sophomore at Indiana University and I am studying Advertising in the Media School. I am also minoring in nutrition.
What is your current binge watch?
I’m currently obsessed with Law & Order SVU. I am usually not a fan of anything scary, but this show is seriously addicting.
What is your guilty pleasure?
My guilty pleasure, as random as it sounds, is playing piano and singing Sam Smith. His music is my favorite and music in general is my happy place.
What do you do for fun?
Whenever I have any free time, you will find me with my best friends taking trips to Bloomingfoods, our go-to healthy food store on campus, and later sitting in a circle with the snacks we bought, hanging out and talking about life together. When I’m not with my friends, I am designing, cutting, and sewing Band, Graphic, and Tailgate T-shirts, which you can buy in the “Shop” section of my website!!
If you were stranded on a deserted island, what three things would you have with you?
My phone so that I could keep my followers updated on social media, a journal & pen, and my dog Riley to keep me company.
