5 Healthy Dorm Room Snacks by Carly Weinstein, Guest Blogger

One of our previous Monday Motivators is back! Carly Weinstein the founder of  Au Courant Life shares with us some healthy dorm room snacks that can help you stay healthy this year in college! 

Staying healthy is a very real struggle for most college students. But what if it didn’t have to be?




By replacing a few junk food items with some healthier options and having some simple snack recipes handy, you will be on the right path to better health.

1.   Make-Your-Own Trail Mix

2. 5-Minute Blueberry Muffin

Mug cakes or ‘muffins’ are great options for a snack or even a late-night dessert because they require minimal ingredients and 5 minutes or less to make. This simple blueberry muffin pictured above has all natural ingredients and can easily be switched up by replacing the blueberries with bananas, chocolate chips, or coconut flakes! There are endless possibilities.

3. Overnight Oats

Overnight oats are often looked at as a breakfast, but what most people don’t think about is how large the portions are! My favorite thing to do is whip up a big batch of overnight oats that contain more than one serving, and then throughout the day I will go into my fridge and take some out as a snack. Just like the other recipes, these overnight oats are so easy to switch around! You can put any toppings you like in them, and can even add cacao powder to make some chocolatey goodness!!

4. Pudding or Yogurt Parfait

Creating a yogurt or pudding parfait is a classic snack or breakfast that requires no energy at all.

For the yogurt parfait, I like buying pre-portioned Greek yogurts, and then topping them with my favorite fruit and granola. It’s great because you never have to take it out of the container!

The pudding parfait puts a fun twist on a yogurt parfait for when you feel those 3 pm cravings coming on. All you need to do is take ½ cup of Greek yogurt and add in 2 Tbsp of almond butter or any nut butter of your choice. Then you can choose any toppings and layer as you please!

5. Create-Your-Own Hummus Platter

Hummus is an extremely healthy and easy thing to keep in your dorm room, and is great for snacking on at any time of day.

You can make your own hummus platter by following these SIMPLE steps.

  1. Put hummus in the middle of a paper plate
  2. Pick 3-4 things you like to dip in hummus (Pretzels, Carrots, tomatoes and bell peppers)
  3. Line the outside of the plate with all the snacks you chose & ENJOY!

This is a great snack because there are so many choices whether it’s the flavor of your hummus or the snacks you decide to line the plate with.
